After many memorable years at Old Pines Restaurant with Rooms at Spean Bridge we decided it was time to move on and have bought a small croft at Strontian, on Loch Sunart, at the head of the Ardnamurchan peninsular, a beautiful spot in the West Highlands of Scotland.

It is a wildlife enthusiasts paradise with the Ariundle Oakwoods a short walk from the door and the Garbh Eilean Hide just 4 miles. Ordnance Survey maps are available for you to use and on display in the houses. This year ('07) so far we have had House Martins, Wrens, Robins, Swallows, Great, Coal and Blue Tits, Sparrows, Starlings, Wagtail and a Yellow Hammer, to our knowlede, nesting on the croft. Blackcock regularly flying over and in September '07 I am disturbing them from the common grazing every day when I go to find Shammy and after November '06's spotting of a Waxwing, we had a male Blackcap in mid December '06 feeding on fat at the bird table who stayed for 3 months (see photo on 'the Croft' pages) and a woodpecker on the nuts. Both cottages have well stocked bird tables outside the patio doors for you to enjoy the visitors.

We have taken the chickens, ducks, dog and even the children and are busy growing and rearing more of our own food and doing various things to promote real and Slow Food.
