Environmental Policies

We have planned our self catering houses to be as environmentally friendly as possible. We have changed our plans

from a 6 kw Proven wind turbine to a 10 kw Westwind and planning is underway. We are converting the Agas to run

on electricity.  At present we buy our electricity from Good Energy - www.goodenergy.co.uk who produce 100%

renewable electricity and also pleased to realise they pay more per kw when you produce your own than any other

company.

A log burning boiler is first on the agenda and solar panels when finances allow. We encourage the use of the wood

burning stoves in the sitting rooms with as many logs as you can use, free of charge, to minimise the use of oil and

low energy bulbs throughout. ' A' or 'A+' grade white goods have been used except the tumble driers which we

encourage you not to use, if at all possible and we provide lots of drying racks and a huge washing line.

Our philosophy is to think environmantaly whenever possible and to encourage our guests to do the same. We

encourage re-cycling, re-using and reducing wherever possible to ensure our footprint is minimal and our eventual

goal is to ensure a carbon neutral holiday. We do lots of composting and there are bins near the house for you to use.

We also compost all our own animal and plant waste and collect a lot of seaweed from the beach. We are members

of our village composting group and help out every Tuesday afternoon where you can also join in if you are intersted.

We compost garden waste from all over the village and pass on the finished compost for a donation.

Public transport is possible by bus almost to the door and if necessary we can pick you up from trains in Fort William.

Bluebell Croft is also ideal for a car free holiday once you arrive, with the National Nature Reserve of the Ariundle

Oakwoods right on the doorstep and we have bikes you can borrow.

We have made a commitment to reduce energy consumption and so can you "I commit to saving 20%" - visit the

Energy Saving Trust Commit website to make your commitment
